Minimum System Recommendations for Internet Home School Access:

PC Compatable

• PC or 100% compatible - AT LEAST a 486 DX-33 with 16 MB of RAM,
• Hard drive, 
• CD-ROM drive, 
• Local bus video card,
• Mouse,
• Modem (preferably a 28.8KB).
• The system may run either Windows® 3.1/3.11 or Windows® 95/98.

 

 Recommended configuration:  

 

• Pentium Processor
• 32 megs of RAM
•   high speed modem of at least 28.8K 
•   2.2 Gigabyte Hard Drive is recommended.
   
   Macintosh

• Mac II

MACINTOSH: Theoretically, all Macs since the Mac Plus with 4 megs of RAM and 15 megs of Hard Drive space can connect to the internet. You should have AT LEAST a Mac II. 

Recommended configuration:  

 

•   PowerMac
•  16 megs of RAM  32 megs of RAM is preferable
• 150 to 200 megs free hard drive space
• A high speed modem of at least 28.8K

  Some major manufacturers of modems for the MAC are  Supra, US Robotics, Hayes, Motorola and Global Village. Of course, all of the newer self-contained I-MAC machines are excellent for facillitating home schooling.
